Danny Amendola hasn’t been in New England very long, so it might take locals some time to get to know the new Patriots receiver. Amendola, who inked a five-year deal with the Patriots back in March, has already landed a sponsorship deal with Foot Locker, and he even starred in his first commercial with the brand.
The ad features Amendola running through a park while trying to convince a friend — and maybe himself — that he doesn’t need his cool ASICS sneakers to get attention in his new home. To prove his point, Amendola shouts to a passing woman, who he’s expecting to recognize him as the Patriots’ new receiver, but instead she gives him a confused stare and awkward hug out of uncertainty.
Amendola’s performance isn’t exactly Emmy Award worthy, but it’s nice to see him poking some fun at himself, especially as he tries to fill the big shoes left behind by Wes Welker.
