David Ross Placed on Seven-Day Concussion Disabled List, Ryan Lavarnway Recalled From Pawtucket

David Ross suffered a concussion during Saturday afternoon’s matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. In the ninth inning he took two foul balls in a row directly off his mask. Ross was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.

Lavarnway will take his place on the 25-man roster. Lavarnway spent April 25-27 with the Red Sox, but did not appear in a game. He’s hitting .313 in Triple-A with two home runs and 15 RBIs. Lavarnway spent time with Boston in 2011 and 2012. He has a career .172 average with four home runs and 20 RBIs.

Lavarnway will be available for Sunday’s game against Toronto.
