Brandon Deaderick was out of work for approximately 24 hours.
One day after the New England Patriots released Deaderick, the three-year veteran was claimed on waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars finished dead last in the NFL in sacks in 2012 and have been searching for help with the pass rush ever since. There were rumors that they were going to select now-Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan at No. 2 overall in the NFL draft to help solve that problem, but they chose offensive tackle Luke Joeckel with the pick instead.
Deaderick isn’t an overwhelmingly talented pass rusher as much as a sound defensive lineman, but he adds some versatility as he’s able to play multiple positions along the line and is at least capable of tracking down a quarterback.
Deaderick will join a group on Jacksonville’s defensive line that includes two-time Pro Bowler Jason Babin and 2010 first-round pick Tyson Alualu.
