Jacoby Ellsbury Gets First Game Off As Red Sox Attempt to Sweep Twins

Jacoby EllsburyIf the Red Sox hope to sweep the Twins, they’re going to have to do it without Jacoby Ellsbury — at least at the start of the game.

Ellsbury is getting his first time off of the 2013 season. The Red Sox center fielder has played every inning for the team this year. Shane Victorino will bat leadoff in Ellsbury’s place and play center field.

Taking Ellsbury out of the lineup will bump Jonny Gomes up to the No. 2 spot in the order. Pedro Ciriaco will start at shortstop in Stephen Drew‘s place, while Jarrod Saltalamacchia is playing again after having Saturday night off.
