The lawsuit against the NCAA on behalf of the Paterno family will be announced Wednesday night, PennLive.com reports. The spokesman for the Paterno family, Dan McGinn, the family attorney, Wick Sollers, and former Pennsylvania Gov. Dick Thornburgh are all to appear on “Costas Tonight” with Bob Costas on the NBC Sports Network at 11 p.m., Adam Freifeld, NBC Sports Network spokesman told PennLive.
Sandusky was charged with 45 counts of child sexual abuse, and the Freeh report indicated that Paterno, along with Penn State officials Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, had knowledge of the crimes and aided in covering them up. The Paterno family has disputed this version of events and, in turn, conducted their own investigation with Thornburgh at the helm.
While it was initially reported that Penn State would be a party in the lawsuit, the university refuted this. Penn State officials said in a statement that the university is “committed to full compliance with the Consent Decree and the Athletics Integrity Agreement.”
Among the sanctions Penn State received was a $60 million fine. State Sen. Jake Corman filed a lawsuit of his own against the NCAA to keep the revenue from the fine in-state.
