Montee BallDrawing comparisons to Terrell Davis is a pretty serious compliment, no matter where it’s coming from. But when it’s coming from John Elway, it might be just a tad more meaningful.

Elway, who won two Super Bowls with Davis and is now the Broncos’ executive vice president of football operations, compared rookie running back Montee Ball to the all-time great on Tuesday, according to USA Today’s Lindsay Jones.

During a conference call, the Hall of Fame quarterback noted that what excited the Broncos about the second-round pick was how similar his running style was to Davis.

Given Ball’s successful career at Wisconsin, it shouldn’t be a great surprise if he’s able to put up big numbers, even as a rookie, in Denver. But even for a terrific talent like Ball, comparisons to a legendary 2,000-yard rusher like Davis might be a bit overwhelming.
