Kyle Arrington Says He Gave No. 24 to Adrian Wilson Because It ‘Meant More’ to Veteran Safety

Kyle ArringtonWhen the Patriots signed safety Adrian Wilson, he immediately set his sights on acquiring the No. 24 from Kyle Arrington. At one point, he even offered (and followed through on) buying a year’s supply of diapers for Arrington, who is a new father.

Arrington finally relinquished the number, but it didn’t have anything to do with diapers.

“He approached me the right way,” Arrington said on ESPN. “It meant more to him than it meant to me.”

Arrington said the number belonged to Wilson’s brother, which is why it meant more to the 11-year veteran. Arrington wore No. 27 before taking No. 24 in 2011. He’ll wear No. 25 in 2013.
