It seems that the administrators at one West Coast Conference school self-reported a potential NCAA extra-benefits violation, and the student-athlete involved found herself in some hot water.
An unnamed female golfer at an unnamed WCC school was recently fined by the NCAA for a secondary infraction. Her crime? Using a university hose and water on campus to wash her car. Portland basketball coach Eric Reveno made light of the violation on Wednesday when he heard about it at the conference’s spring meetings.

While Reveno didn’t elaborate much in his tweet, the folks over at The Dagger did a little digging and found out some more details.
It seems that a secondary violation had been made by the student-athlete because she used a hose that was not available to regular students to hose off her car. The athlete’s $20 fine was doled out for the value of the water and use of the hose.
Certainly there are bigger fish out there for the NCAA to fry.
