At least one Pittsburgh bar is going the extra mile in putting its support behind the Penguins, even if it means denying their patrons certain beer options during the Eastern Conference final.
As Yahoo!’s Puck Daddy blog points out, a Pittsburgh-area bar looks to be banning sales of Boston beer, notably Sam Adams, during the Penguins-Bruins series, which is set to begin Saturday night in Pittsburgh.
Fans of Sam Adams only have a couple of days left to get a cold Boston Lager at Howlers Coyote Cafe in Pittsburgh. Once the series starts, the sale of Boston beers stop. The bar’s Facebook page features the news as well and called it a “public service announcement.”
A Twitter user under the handle @chicogoal1 is taking credit for making the sign, as according to tweets, he is a bartender at Howler’s.
“Yeah, wrote it when I came in at 8 and some dude was drinking a Boston Larger,” he said in a reply to another Twitter user.
If you’ll recall, the Canadian pizza company Boston Pizza “changed its name” to Vancouver Pizza during the 2011 Stanley Cup Final when the Canucks fell to the Bruins in seven games.
