Kevin Alston, Ryan JohnsonKevin Alston is battling cancer.

The New England Revolution and some of their most passionate fans are making sure Alston and his family aren’t fighting it by themselves.

The Revs and the Midnight Riders will hold a trivia night fundraiser to support Alston and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The event will take place at The Banshee (934 Dorchester Ave., Boston, Mass.) on May 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online here or by visiting Revolutionsoccer.net. All proceeds from the trivia night fundraiser will be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Alston was recently diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). He has taken a leave of absence from the team.

The stricken Revolution defender is expected to attend the trivia night fundraiser. Some of his Revolution teammates, including Matt Reis, Kelyn Rowe and Stephen McCarthy will be on hand as well. The Rev Girls will be there giving out prizes such as game tickets and autographed Revolution memorabilia.

The trivia competition will feature Revolution and sports questions with some pop culture questions mixed in. Trash talk between Revolution players, staff and fans is already in full flow. Participants might need to bring their “A” games if they want to match wits with Alston and company.
