Chicago Reporter Tricks Boston Sports Fans With Fake Stanley Cup Case (Video)

They’re feeling pretty good about things in Chicago with how the Stanley Cup Final has gone to this point, and that confidence apparently extends to TV stations as well.

The Blackhawks — and a bunch of Chicago media folk — are back in Boston as the Hawks look to win the Stanley Cup on Monday night in Game 6 against the Bruins. At least one Chicago station and one of its reporters decided to have some good clean fun with Boston fans while back in town.

WGN’s Pat Tomasulo pulled a fast one on some Bostonians on Sunday with a fairly simple practical joke. Armed with a video camera case and a couple pairs of white gloves, Tomasulo and a producer hit the streets of Boston carrying the case. That led many to believe they were carrying the Cup around the Hub.

Of course, Bruins fans — or sports fans of any allegiances, really — were disappointed to see the case open only to reveal a Blackhawks jersey. Tomasulo then threw the metaphorical salt in the wound by obnoxiously screaming “Let’s go Hawks!” at the unsuspecting (and well, somewhat oblivious) dupees.

The Blackhawks can leave Boston with the real Cup if they win Game 6 on Monday night at TD Garden.
