There is a saying out there that Chipper Jones might want to remember the next time he goes on Twitter: Think before you tweet.

The former Atlanta Braves third baseman sent out a tweet Saturday afternoon pondering whether or not alligators can be used to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the United States’ southern border

It appeared to be an attempt at a joke, though, with Jones’ addition of “jk” (just kidding) at the end.

This isn’t the first time that Jones has made headlines during his retirement for a controversial statement. He also came out in defense of former Rutgers men’s basketball coach Mike Rice, who was fired after abusing his players verbally and physically.
