There are a handful of players that the Bruins likely can’t stand to lose. Forward Patrice Bergeron is one of those players.
The Boston center, one of the best all-around players in the NHL, left Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final with an injury. Bergeron appeared to tweak something early in the second period, and he skated just one shift after that. He did not return to the bench following the second period, and he was sent to an area hospital for more evaluation.
It’s tough to speculate as to what the injury could be, but the Bruins were tight-lipped about Bergeron’s status following the game. That’s because, according to head coach Claude Julien, Bergeron’s status was still unknown.
“Well, no update, and I think there’s no concern until you get an update,” Julien said. “As far as we’re concerned, he’s just getting evaluated right now. Not much I can say on his situation.”
Julien wouldn’t even go into specifics as to what the nature of the injury was or when it was suffered.
“It’s just an injury that wasn’t able to let him finish the game,” Julien added. “He may be in the next game. I’m not going there.”
