After missing an appearance due to soreness in his right AC joint, the righty pitched five innings of scoreless baseball Sunday in a 3-0 win over the Yankees. Buchholz struck out four and allowed just two hits and one walk.

That performance lowered his season ERA to 1.62. Buchholz is 8-0 on the season with 77 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings. He’s walked just 28 batters this season and allowed 28 earned runs.

Buchholz’s next start is Saturday against the Angels in the second start of a day-night doubleheader.
