Matthew Macklin went down for the count at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., on Saturday night.
Gennady Golovkin improved his record to 27-0 with a lethal body shot. The punch to Macklin’s kidney rendered the English fighter’s lower body temporarily incapacitated. Golovkin has won 24 of his fights by knockout.
The fighter famously known as “GGG” retained the WBA and IBA middleweight titles in the fight. His knockout shot came in the third round.
