Joe Blanton Epitomizes Angels’ Troubles to Open 2013 Season (Video)

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much money a team spends — it doesn’t always produce results.

The Angels spent plenty of dough over the past two seasons on Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols, C.J. Wilson and Joe Blanton, but they are still in third place in the American League West, just half a game up on the Mariners.

Blanton was given a two-year, $15 million contract by the Angels this offseason and they have a 1-9 record to show for it. Blanton had a 5.53 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings coming into Sunday afternoon’s start as the righty has struggled to move from the NL to the AL.

Watch the video above to hear Tim Wakefield and Tom Caron discuss how Blanton and Ryan Dempster have fared in the AL.
