It sure was nice of LeBron James to take a moment out of his busy schedule to say hi to David Beckham.

The basketball superstar spent much of Monday evening torching the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, but when he saw Beckham sitting courtside at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Fla., he just had to greet a fellow icon.

James and Beckham briefly shook hands toward the end of the game. James’ Miami heat cruised to a 23-point victory, earning a place in the NBA Finals.

Beckham was in Miami meeting civic leaders and exploring sites for a potential MLS team. The retired soccer star has an option to purchase an MLS franchise, which he is expected to exercise in the not-too-distant future.

James would be a good ally in Beckham’s efforts to drum up support for a fledgling soccer team. After all, fame recognizes fame.
