As Chris Bosh might say: If you can’t get the team that won the NBA championship in your city right, then maybe you shouldn’t be broadcasting at all.
A Miami TV station has egg on its face after it ran an on-screen graphic that was just a bit wrong Thursday night. As Miami fans swarmed the area outside American Airlines Arena after the Heat held off the Spurs to win their second straight NBA championship, cameras from an ABC affiliate checked out the scene — and put a “Game 7 loss” graphic over the shot of “downtown Miami.”
While the game was tight throughout, the Heat had the edge in the later minutes, and a LeBron James jump shot put it in the bag with about 27 seconds to go.
The city was already trying to live down some infamy after legions of fans were caught deserting the team near the end of Game 6 when it appeared the Spurs had won. Bosh later called out those fans and told them not to come back for Game 7.
He could probably say the same thing to the type-checkers over at Channel 10.
