Michelle LeonardoRemember, folks, it isn’t just offseason for the players.

While the NBA goes on its summer break, the players may get some well-deserved rest, but for many people on the periphery of a professional basketball organization, there’s no rest for the weary. Beyond team executives who sometimes make their toughest decisions while there are no games, the team cheerleaders, too, have some work to do.

2013 auditions to become a Celtics Dancer occurred in three dates in three cities — Los Angeles, New York and Boston. The Boston tryouts, as well as the final two days after some eliminations, were held at Suffolk University, and the team didn’t have to go far to find its newest member.

Michelle Leonardo, Miss New Jersey USA 2012 champion and current Suffolk University journalism student, became the newest Celtics Dancer, according to Barstool Sports. The 23-year-old is still set to compete at Miss Earth 2013 due to her Top 10 finish at Miss USA 2012, but she will also be cheering on the Celtics — whatever unknown players might remain on the team — throughout the 2013-14 season.
