The Patriots added some offensive line depth, even bringing back a familiar face — well, sort of.

The Patriots re-signed rookie offensive lineman R.J. Mattes on Monday, two weeks after releasing him to make room for fellow offensive lineman Kevin Haslam.

Mattes, 23, is an undrafted rookie from North Carolina State. He originally signed with the Patriots on May 13, but the team released him 10 days later on May 23. A 6-foot-6 offensive tackle, Mattes was a four-year starter at NC State and should add some depth along the offensive line, considering the release of veteran guard Tyronne Green and recoveries of guard Dan Connolly and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer from offseason surgery.
