Felix Doubront has only one win under his belt since April 27 — due in large part to the lack of run support he’s received — but if the offense’s recent success is any indication, he might not have to wait any longer when he takes the hill Saturday against the Blue Jays.
The Sox offense has mustered just 16 runs for Doubront in the left-hander’s last eight starts, but those kind of woes haven’t been apparent lately, as Boston has posted 10 or more hits in six of its last seven games, including Friday night’s 7-5 win that extended the team’s winning streak to four games.
The Blue Jays will counter with Esmil Rogers, a relief pitcher turned starter who is 2-1 in his last three outings. He allowed four runs on seven hits — including three home runs — in a loss to the Rays his last time out.
