When the All England Club says all white, it means all white, no matter how pretty Roger Federer‘s orange-accented Wimbledon getup may be.
The seven-time Wimbledon champ was chided by the host of the tennis major this week after he wore tennis shoes with orange soles, according to the Daily Mail. Federer has been told to change his shoes for his next match, which is Wednesday afternoon.
Federer has been given special treatment by parts of the club before as he’s set the record for most titles won on its famous grass courts, and he’s often brought a special wardrobe for the fortnight (this year’s orange accents are a marked contrast to the gold he’s worn before). But even Federer is not exempt to the dress code for Wimbledon, which asks competitors to dress in all white.
