Sergei Bobrovsky Wins Vezina Trophy, Bruins Goalie Tuukka Rask Finishes Fifth

Tuukka RaskSergei Bobrovsky was one of the NHL’s biggest surprises this season, and he added another impressive accomplishment to that season on Saturday night.

The Columbus Blue Jackets goalie was named the Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s best goaltender. Bobrovsky went 21-11-6 with a 2.00 goals against average and four shutouts this season and almost got the Jackets into the Western Conference playoffs. He received 17 first-place votes, and he was named on 26 of 30 ballots. Bobrovsky beat out New York’s Henrik Lundqvist and San Jose’s Antti Niemi for the honor. Lundqvist finished second and Niemi finished third.

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask finished fifth in the voting. Rask didn’t receive a first-place vote, but he received three second-place and three third-place votes.
