The 2008 Big Ten championship ring that former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor sold — and partly led to his suspension in 2010 — is apparently up for sale again.
The claimed ring is now available on eBay and is currently bidding at over $4,000 with less than 10 hours left in the auction. The ring’s seller also claims to have other Buckeye memorabilia, including a 2002 national championship ring and other 2008 title rings from players who illegally sold them, including DeVier Posey and Solomon Thomas.
Pryor and four other Buckeyes were suspended for the first five games of Ohio State’s 2011 season for selling awards, like their 2008 Big Ten title rings, and receiving improper benefits, including tattoos. Each player was forced to repay between $1,000 and $2,500 in order to be reinstated, and the scandal, popularly coined as “Tattoo-Gate,” eventually led to the resignation of then-coach Jim Tressel.
