Titus Young made his latest appearance in court Tuesday, as his trial for 11 counts of burglary, assault and other charges was delayed.
Young’s lawyer, Altus W. Hudson II, requested a delay in the proceedings because Young has been unable to receive a psychological evaluation, according to USA Today. Hudson claims that the Orange County, Calif., jail where Young is being held is not yet allowing him visitors, which is delaying the evaluation. However, a spokesperson for the jail said that, if the evaluation is part of a court order, it would have been allowed.
For his part, Young seemed in much better condition at his Tuesday court appearance. Whereas during his last time in court, on May 24, he had been unresponsive to the judge and remained silent throughout, this time he answered simple questions, communicated with his father and otherwise cooperated.
Young was arrested three times in one week last month for several break-ins. An ex-girlfriend filed a restraining order against Young, while his father has characterized him as having a mental illness.
While Young remains in jail, his bail is set at $75,000. However, according to Hudson, Young’s family wants him to stay in jail for the time being, believing it is in his best interest.
