Yasiel Puig Doubles Up Runner at First From Deep Right Field to End Game in Major League Debut (Video)

If you haven’t yet heard of Yasiel Puig, the below video ought to serve as an adequate introduction to the outfielder’s skill set.

The 22-year-old is Major League Baseball’s latest Cuban import, as the Dodgers signed Puig to a seven-year, $42 million deal over the offseason. On Monday night, Puig made his MLB debut, immediately making an impact on the game.

Puig had two hits on the night, and ended the game with an incredible double-play. With one out and a runner on first in the top of the ninth, the Padres’ Kyle Banks hit a long fly ball to right field that Puig eventually tracked down. Chris Denorfia, who was on first base, bolted for second on contact and Puig doubled him up from the warning track to get the seal the Dodgers’ 2-1 win.
