Despite a photo of Aaron Hernandez flashing what appears to be a gang sign from his high school days surfacing last week, the former Patriots tight end claims he’s never been involved in gang activity.

Hernandez told Bristol County correction officers that he’s never been involved in any street gangs, Bristol County sheriff Thomas Hodgson told the Boston Herald. Hernandez, who has a “blood” tattoo on his hand, was searched by authorities for “telltale gang signs” on his body in the form of tattoos.

“He talked to our gang
investigators and said he didn’t have any involvement,” Hodgson told the Herald. “We always take extra precautions. We don’t have any definite issues at this point, but we’re still being very cautious.

“The review of his tattoos is a normal process, and we haven’t reached any definitive conclusions,” Hodgson added.

The gang sign Hernandez is allegedly flashing in the photo taken his senior year at Bristol High School is for the Bristol Bloods.
