Brandon Snyder, Brandon WorkmanAfter a lengthy West Coast swing and a four-day break for the All-Star festivities, baseball is finally back at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox will open the unofficial second half of their season with a marquee matchup, welcoming the Yankees to Fenway for the first time this season.

Brandon Snyder will start third base for the Sox in Friday’s series opener after Brock Holt saw the majority of the action at the tail end of last week’s road trip. In 11 games since being called up from Pawtucket, Snyder has gone 6-for-24 (.250) with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs.

One familiar face that will not be in the lineup for Boston will be Daniel Nava, who gets a night off after 10 consecutive starts. Jonny Gomes will start in left field and bat sixth while Shane Victorino will man the right side of the outfield and hit in his usual No. 2 slot.

On the visitors’ side, second baseman Robinson Cano will be in the lineup after taking a Matt Harvey fastball off the knee in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. The other half of the Yankees’ middle-infield tandem will not be, however, as Derek Jeter returned to the disabled list Friday morning after playing in just one game. Eduardo Nunez will get the start at shortstop and bat eighth.
