Brandon WorkmanIt came down to two young, homegrown pitchers for Amica Pitcher of the Week honors, but the award goes to Brandon Workman.

The 24-year-old dazzled in his first major league start, throwing 6 1/3 innings of two-hit baseball. He struck out five and only walked one batter.

Workman wasn’t able to come up with the win against the Athletics, but he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and should earn a second start in the big leagues before Clay Buchholz returns.
