Golf is an expensive sport that very few of us excel at, so we know better than to destroy equipment when we hit a poor shot. At the highest level of golf, however, those guys are used to doing well and have a seemingly unlimited supply of equipment. Because of that, we occasionally see what happened Thursday in Scotland.

Muirfield got the best of Charl Schwartzel in the first round of the British Open, and the 2011 Masters champion let his emotions get the best of him. After bogeying four of five holes to begin the back nine, Schwartzel hit an errant shot at 15. Finally, he reached his breaking point.

Schwartzel threw his club, a 6-iron, into the ground and broke it in the process, going on to double-bogey the hole. All things considered, however, Schwartzel rebounded nicely. He went on to play the final three holes at 1-under while making birdie at the 18th to finish the day 4-over.
