Derrick RoseDerrick Rose’s return is finally a reality.

After sitting out the entire 2012-13 season rehabbing his torn ACL, the Chicago Bulls star is confident that he will be ready to suit up for the first game of the season, according to a USA Today report.

“I should be able to play in the first game of season,” Rose said. “I know I’m anxious right now to play. My health is everything right now, it’s 100 percent. But right now, the first game … I will definitely be playing it.”

While the star took some heat about not being mentally ready to return to the court after he was medically cleared, Rose insists that is no longer the case.

“[Mentally] I’m just strong as I’ve been,” Rose said. “I had the time to think about what’s important in my life, getting better on the court, watching a lot of film with [Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau], asking him questions, talking to him about two times a week … So he’s been kind of a professor to me.”

If his predictions prove accurate, the 2011 MVP’s long-awaited return will come October 12 when the Bulls travel to Brazil to take on the Washington Wizards.
