Wednesday night was the slowest sports night of the year, which made for a good time to get some of the best athletes in the world all in the same room to hand out some trophies. That’s what the ESPY Awards have been doing for some time, and the 2013 event took place Wednesday night.
As is customary with the ESPYs and pretty much any award show, the festivities were kicked off with a monologue delivered by 2013 host, Mad Men star Jon Hamm. The actor (or better yet, whoever actually wrote the monologue) pulled no punches with a couple of real good zingers aimed at sports’ biggest newsmakers over the last 12 months.
