Henry Owens Leads Week That Was in Red Sox Minor League System With Combined No-Hitter (Gallery)

Henry OwensLast week belonged to the pitchers in the Red Sox minor league system.

Two of the Red Sox’ top prospects on the mound, Matt Barnes and Henry Owens, each turned in impressive outings for their respective teams.

Owens was the most impressive, as he threw six innings of no-hit ball on July 17. His performance was part of a combined no-no for the Salem Red Sox. He then went on to pitch five innings without allowing a hit in his next outing, and he currently has a streak of 15 2/3 hitless innings.

Barnes, meanwhile, threw seven shutout innings during a win on Saturday. Barnes is the No. 3 overall prospect for the Red Sox, according to MLB.com, while Owens is No. 5.

Some other players who had solid weeks in the minors were Tzu-Wei Lin and Luis Diaz, while Jackie Bradley Jr. had one big game during an otherwise down week.
