Jacoby Ellsbury Back In Lineup, Felix Doubront Tasked With Slowing Down Mariners’ Hot Bats

Jacoby Ellsbury, Hank CongerAfter sitting out two games with a wrist injury, Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the Red Sox lineup Wednesday, hitting leadoff and patrolling center field.

Daniel Nava and Jackie Bradley Jr. took over the center field duties in Ellsbury’s absence and got their fair share of conditioning in the two games due to Seattle spraying the ball all over the field. The Mariners have put up 19 runs in the series’ first two games against the Sox, and lefty Felix Doubront will have the tough task of putting out the Mariners hitters on Wednesday.

The Mariners have been getting contributions throughout the lineup so far in the series, so Doubront will need his best stuff to keep the game within reach. The lefty hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start since May 8 and has a 2.08 ERA over his last four starts.

With Ellsbury returning to the lineup, the Red Sox are sporting a rather normal lineup, with Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Mike Napoli hitting 3-4-5. Brock Holt continues to man third base with Jose Iglesias at shortstop while Stephen Drew recovers from a hamstring injury. Iglesias and Holt are hitting eighth and ninth, respectively.
