Jake Peavy‘s Twitter avatar is either him giving a high five or him waving goodbye. As Wednesday morning comes with Peavy now a member of the Red Sox, the goodbye interpretation is fitting.
Peavy was traded from the White Sox to Boston on Tuesday night as part of a three-team, seven-player deal. While Peavy was at the center of trade rumors for some time, it wasn’t certain anything was going to happen until all the pieces finally fell into place the night before the deadline.
While Peavy is joining a championship contender in Boston, he’s also leaving the city that has been his home for part of the last five seasons. The Red Sox are just the third team Peavy has played for in his career, and he made sure to give White Sox country a goodbye before changing his socks.
