On Tuesday night, the Minnesota Twins ended up victorious in a 10-inning game against the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim), scoring seven times in that extra frame to win 10-3. Before Minnesota eventually blew the game open in extras, though, Justin Morneau scored on a Ryan Doumit double in the eighth inning to give the Twins a 3-2 lead.

However, how Morneau scored was pretty spectacular, in and of itself.

After Doumit’s double to center field, Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick took the relay throw and fired it into catcher Hank Conger. Under normal circumstances, the throw would have beat Morneau and the Angels would have kept the game tied. However, Morneau performed one of the greatest slides you’ll probably ever see in baseball, managing to contort his body around the tag from Conger and touch the plate safely.

Does this remind anyone else of Willie Mays Hayes? Check out Morneau’s amazing slide in the animated GIF below.
