Kanye West lebrongKanye West has a history of doing odd things in places no one expects him to be — just ask Taylor Swift. So when millions tuned in to hear LeBron James‘ decision and where he would be spending the next stint of his career in July 2010, West was there but not in the way you would expect.

Instead of the grabbing microphones or saying things that make Mike Myers very uncomfortable, West was sleeping. According to Courtney Cox, an ESPN studio stage manager for The Decision, West was asleep before James announced his decision and then left before the show concluded.

“At the biggest non-sporting sports event in a while, Kanye West fell asleep before anyone announced anything,” Cox wrote for Fansided. “He was doing the church/school head nod and everything. Wake up, Mr. West.”

Maybe he was preparing for the child he would have in a year’s time or listening to the soulful sounds of Josh Groban singing his own tweets. But either way, he was out cold for the news. In fact, he probably still thinks James is in Cleveland.
