Of all the ways to approach a sensitive subject like Riley Cooper‘s admitted lapse in judgment last month, Marcus Vick chose a pretty bad one.
Vick, younger brother of Eagles quarterback and Cooper’s current teammate Michael Vick, put a bounty on the disgraced wide receiver through Twitter on Wednesday. The younger Vick, a quarterback at Virginia Tech who was converted to receiver in the pros, posted a series of tweets and retweets laced with colorful language.

We’re not going to condemn Vick, who has had his issues in the past, for being enraged at Cooper’s comments. Even Cooper, for his part, sounded upset with himself in issuing a statement with a real apology, not one of the usual sports non-apologies where athletes apologize to “anyone who might have been offended.” But Vick’s response did nothing to improve the tenor of the conversation and could only further inflame the situation, which Cooper and the Eagles were doing everything possible to extinguish.
As for Vick not wanting to play on an NFL team with Cooper, he probably doesn’t have to worry about that too much. Since the Hokies dismissed him from the team after his junior year in 2005, Vick has appeared in one NFL game, with the Dolphins in 2006, and has not recorded a statistic as a pro.
Hopefully, the knowledge that he will never have to share a locker room with Cooper — or any NFL player — gives Vick some peace of mind. Or “piece.” Whatever.
