Nevada Football Team Takes Inspiration from HBO’s Game of Thrones for New Helmet Design (Photo)

Winter is coming … to Reno.

The Nevada Wolf Pack have released a new white helmet with a silver wolf logo, according to Reno Gazette-Journal reporter Chris Murray. The new helmet looks similar to the colors and sigil of House Stark from the popular HBO drama Game of Thrones.

In the Game of Thrones universe, House Stark is the traditional guardian of the North, a vast region on the continent of Westeros. Both Nevada and House Stark have adopted the wolf as their mascots, though House Stark’s wolf is actually a direwolf, a larger species of wolf that can grow to the size of a pony.

Nevada head coach Brian Polian is entering his first year as head coach, just as Robb Stark entered his first year as King of the North in the Season 1 finale of Game of Thrones. Polian’s future plans to attend weddings are unknown.
