Packers Rookie Running Back Johnathan Franklin Says Tim Tebow Is His Role Model

Johnathan FranklinBased on the Journal Sentinel’s profile on Johnathan Franklin, the Packers rookie running backĀ seems like a pretty interesting fella.

He has aspirations to be Mayor of Los Angeles, his favorite foods are macaroni and cheese and collared greens and he enjoys watching tennis greats Roger Federer and Novak Djokavic. Oh, also, his role model is Tim Tebow. Wait, what?

That’s right, the UCLA product listed the current Patriot as his role model when asked by JSOnline.com.

“I love Tim Tebow because of his spiritual walk,” Franklin said. “Through all that he’s been through, he still stays strong in his walk, and that’s very encouraging. My pastor and my mom [Pamela] have also been great role models for me.”

The piece has a few great quotes from Franklin about transitioning from Los Angeles, where he played with the Bruins, to Green Bay. For example, Franklin has never been hunting before.

“I saw a moose head in a room the other day and I went crazy. I ain’t seen none of this,” Franklin said. “I said, ‘Is that real? Did you really kill a moose?’ It’s so different here. I saw a porcupine the other day, I mean it’s crazy.”

Franklin also apparently hasn’t spent much time in the woods before.

“I wanted to see Lake Michigan,” Franklin said. “I was driving through the woods and I was so scared. There I was on the cliff [at Cave Point County Park], and it was nice. We just drove up and came right back.”

Unfortunately for Franklin, he’ll be taking hand offs from some bum named Aaron Rodgers this season. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be able to play with a quarterback on the same level as Tebow one day.
