Tom BradyFOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots are gearing up for the start of training camp practices by giving their roster one good final shake.

The Pats re-signed offensive lineman Tyronne Green on Thursday, adding some veteran depth to Tom Brady‘s front line. In order to make room for Green, the Patriots also released undrafted rookie center Matt Stankiewitch.

Green, 27, originally signed with the Patriots on May 13. He was released less than three weeks later on May 31. He started 13 games at guard for the San Diego Chargers in 2012 and played in a total of 41 games with them during his four-year career.

Stankiewitch, 23, signed with the Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 3 after going undrafted. A versatile offensive lineman for Penn State under former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, Stankiewitch was expected to have an inside track on landing at least a spot on the Patriots’ practice squad. He was placed on the non-football injury list Tuesday, which may have led to his release.
