KD, Monica WrightIt’s like the real life Love and Basketball — two incredibly talented basketball players fall in love, share their love for the game and get married.

Kevin Durant previously pined for a basketball-playing girlfriend like the character Monica Wright in the movie Love and Basketball. In a tweet on Sept. 6, 2011, Durant said, “Or maybe I need a basketball playing girlfriend…hmmm lol…monica wright where r u(love n basketball).”

It seems Durant brought the movie script to life as he proposed to the real-life Monica Wright on July 6, according to a report from MediaTakeout.com. Wright, who plays for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, has been a close friend of Durant’s since high school as the two share a common bond.

“A lot of it has to do with basketball,” Wright told Fox Sports. “That’s how we’ve known each other. But he’s helped me, coached me. He’s actually a type of player I want to be like.”
