Michael Young won’t be heading to Boston — or anywhere besides Arlington, Texas, for that matter.

The Phillies third baseman, who has been rumored to be on the trading block in recent weeks, will only approve a trade to the Texas Rangers, according to Ken Rosenthal.

Young, 36, played his first 13 seasons in Texas, where he hit .301 in over 1,800 games played.  He was also named to seven All-Star teams as a member of the Rangers. He’s hitting .277 with seven homers and 32 RBIs for the Phillies in 98 games this season.

Jeff Passan reports that the Phillies have called up Cody Asche, meaning Young will likely be traded. If both reports are true, Young will be heading to Texas at some point Tuesday or Wednesday.
