Patriots DefenseThe Patriots now have a full 90-man roster heading into training camp.

The Patriots signed undrafted rookie defensive tackle John Drew on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.

Drew, 6-foot-2 and 335 pounds, played three seasons at North Carolina Central, transferring from Duke after his freshman year. He played in eight games in 2012 with NCCU, recording 18 tackles, five tackles for loss and two blocked kicks before suffering a turf toe injury that ended his season early. The injury also kept Drew from participating fully in pre-draft workouts earlier this spring.

The Patriots are thin at defensive tackle behind Vince Wilfork entering training camp, which begins Friday. Tommy Kelly, Armond Armstead, Marcus Forston and rookies Cory Grissom and Joe Vellano were the only true defensive ends on the roster behind Wilfork.

Drew had a tryout with the Patriots during their June minicamp. He adds depth to the defensive line and could be a sneaky value pickup for the team somewhere down the line.
