That Patriots’ wide receiving corps isn’t exactly an area of strength, but the Pats reportedly made a move Friday to cut down that group.
New England released wideout Donald Jones on Friday afternoon, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe. The release comes just a little bit more than four months after the club signed the former Bills receiver.
Jones’ deal with the Patriots, which he signed on March 15, was reportedly for three years. He attended the team’s OTAs and minicamp, but he apparently won’t make it to training camp.
Jones caught 41 passes for 443 yards and four touchdowns last season, the best season of his young career.
