Ricky WilliamsFormer Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams will be back on the gridiron come fall.

The running back will join the coaching staff at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, according to Pete Roussel of Coaching Search. The Cardinals are joining the FCS Southland Conference for the 2013 season.

Williams was the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner while at the University of Texas, and he went on to play in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, the New Orleans Saints and the Baltimore Ravens. He was profiled by ESPN in 2010 in their 30 for 30 documentary series. The feature chronicled Williams’ brief 2004 departure from the NFL when he sought self-redemption amid media criticism and rumors of marijuana use.
