Security Guard Can’t Get Out of Way of Live Ball, Leading to Triple at AT&T Park (Video)

Oh, the trials and tribulations in the life of a security guard.

During the Mets’ 4-3 victory over the Giants on Monday night in San Francisco, one security guard down the left field line had all his worst dreams realized. A line drive off the bat of Eric Young Jr. came right at him, and with nowhere else to go to avoid the live ball, the security guard ran into fair territory. Unfortunately, as the ball caromed out of the corner, it — and Giants left fielder Andres Torres — converged nearly in the same spot as the security guard.

Continuing to do his best to avoid actually interfering, the security guard ducked as Torres threw the ball into the infield. Young got to third, anyway, and it remains unclear if Torres could have kept him to a double without the security guard in his way.

Nonetheless, check out the hilarious (for us) incident in the video below.
