Shin-Soo Choo Gets Fooled by Hanley Ramirez in Embarrassing Baserunning Gaffe (Video)

Shin-Soo Choo didn’t even know what hit him — or to be more exact, what was even going on.

The Reds outfielder was breaking for second base in a typical hit-and-run scenario Thursday night when, to be kind, he got a little confused. Reds first baseman Joey Votto was at the plate, and he executed his part by hitting a flare single to center.

However, Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez apparently had some sneaky plans in mind and broke to second base as if he was about to lay a tag on Choo. It completely fooled Choo, who slid into second, then, for some crazy reason, decided to retreat and start running back toward first base before he was easily tagged out.

Perhaps Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully described it best. “They oughta give the Dodgers’ Hanley Ramirez an Oscar or at least an Emmy.” Or both.
