They don’t hand out trophies for success before the All-Star break, but the Red Sox have to feel pretty good about their performance so far.

We all know how the players have performed this season. David Ortiz has come back better than ever from his Achilles injury. John Lackey is pitching like it’s 2007. Jacoby Ellsbury is racking up hits from the leadoff spot after a sluggish start to the season.
But the contributions of two men you won’t find on the scoresheet have been perhaps the greatest of all. That would be general manager Ben Cherington, who was tasked with revamping the roster after last season’s debacle, and first-year manager John Farrell, who has brought a winning culture back to the Red Sox clubhouse.
