Turning a double play is always a feat in and of itself, but making it look pretty is a practiced art form.
On Wednesday night, Yunel Escobar was quite the artist. In the bottom of the fourth inning of Wednesday night’s game, the Red Sox’ Dustin Pedroia hit what looked like a seeing-eye single, but Escobar wouldn’t let that fly. The Rays shortstop ranged up the middle to make the play, then flipped the ball up behind his back with his glove. Ben Zobrist fielded the flip with his bare hand and fired to first base to pull off the double play.
